Philosophy of Mathematics
Most of the population would say mathematics is troublesome but math is quite straightforward. Everything in a person’s daily life begins with mathematics, starting from the simplest form to the most complex. Math is more than just numbers, formulas, or counting change at a store; it is more ingenious than that.
Mathematics is a science that deals with logic, quantity, and arrangement. It is a series of inputs and outputs that is continuously expanding. Mathematics is operations, properties, calculations, and structure. Mathematics teaches us to think analytically and have better reasoning abilities. This allows us to look at a question, understand all assumptions that can be formed about it, and learn to clarify all the difficult parts of it to obtain a solution. It promotes working in a problem-solving environment and reinforces our analytical skills. When you properly understand math, it is further defined in our everyday lives. Math can be seen in computer technology, computational techniques, and mathematical theory to solve business, economical, and engineering problems.
A degree in mathematics illustrates a person’s talent to not only solve complex problems but to also understand the approach and theories used to reach a solution. Such people see the math around them and have a different way of perceiving the world and thinking in general. A degree in mathematics broadens my knowledge for a wide variety of different situations. I’ve acquired the skills to analyze data, problem-solve, argue logically, and think abstractly. A degree in mathematics has also implemented me with plenty of other skills. I can work independently, as well as in a group setting; using an array of media, work with determination and patience to seek a solution to any problem, and am efficient in organization and time management.
